Sir;...I have often heard the comment that the book given to Mr. Obama is anti American...No one ever says it is false to the facts...One more recent author has said that 90% of the foreign aid we give never leaves this country...It goes to profits in advance and interests on loans meant to sell our products and authority around the world...If you must know; when our government speaks out against the coup, they are only covering for what may well be a CIA operation...We have for so long medldled in the affairs of South America that we can hardly be believed when we say we do not...And what is our excuse??? The Monroe doctrine??? What is that??? Our forefathers were as much for the export of revolution as the export of American products... They rightly judged that the enemies of liberty anywhere were the enemies of liberty everywhere...They concluded, as you do not, that American interest lay in democracies, and in many of them...So they believed as Lenin believed a century later in the export of revolution; but by then the counterevolution had already wrecked our democracy, and had turned its attention to denying democracy to the whole of South America... These people were to be our slaves, and as you note, no one has threatened this status quo so much as the dirty communists...Our problem is not just with the communists...Given the choice, those people do not want our products, and thy do not want us in ther affairs denying to them the most basic choices in their lives and in their economies...We need those people as a market, but what will they buy out of the barrel of a gun???t may be that the only thing keeping our economy afloat is the export of war material...Next to food, it may account for the larger part of our exports...It is possible that if we charge those people for the guns we shoot at them, or the bullets that kill them -that we may yet own the place...In fact, our support of militaries, our training of their officers, and monetary support of their generals leads to our extraction of the cost out of the poorest of the population...And the fact that many of the heartless, souless, merciless exiles from our wars, -wars of our making often end up on our streets to spread pain and terror where ever they are found is universally glossed by the Jingos of this age... We suffer alike with them the madness of civil war and insurection... We suffer with them the tyranny of police states, and dictators... And what you wish for them, having no concern for their democratic rights -you justify for us... We could easily have a military takeover here... Our officer corp is ideologically pure right wing Christian...They have no respect for life, for rights, for liberty, or understanding of the economy...This group has already produced one major terrorist, and they are a nest of anti democratic sycophants... They think they have the right because they have the might... What is there in the history of our international relations that will deny this fact??? I ask you a simple question: Should we not give those people in the South their liberty at every opportunity, and cultivate their friendship as a bulwark against tyranny everywhere... Certainly we could trade, but to trade on their misery is inhuman... Rather, we need to bring them to the point where they are equal partners with us in the fight for liberty, equality and justice....Thanks...Sweeney
