I just read your article on greed in corporate setings are sometimes overly criticized and you are "spot on" !!!!
I am a second generation GE retiree and my dad & I have over 85 years service to the company. Jack Welch lived across the street from us on Cambridge Road in Pittsfield, MA and hired me as a summer employee in the Chemical Department. I personally watched him leave early Sunday morning for a week on the road, spendcountless hours away from his family, and sacrifice his personal life for GE. It wasn't a 9-5 job, it was a 24/7/365 tireless effort over 20 some odd years. His total command of the breadth & depth of all GE businesses, customer, competitors, products, etc. was mindboggling. I personally witnessed this amazing man several times in local Detroit business reviews. IMO, he was grossly underpaid, and the attack on him for his retirement package was totally unwarranted. If progress was GE's most important product, Jack was the catalyst that made it go. Thank you for "telling it like it is" as Howard Cosell would have said......spot on!!!!!
