Sir;...The problem facing the republicans is simple... If they think some new personality is going to lead them out of the desert they are going to find that the people will vote for united government when faced with crisis.... The terrible thing for the people is that they must trust people to resolve problems they would never have allowed to occure if they governed themselves, demanded the facts, and decided in their best interest.... No one would have voted for this situation we face, and that is the proof that we do not have democracy.... Changing parties and changing personalites is no guarantee of good government, and not even a a guarantee that any essential facet in our lives will be governed to the extent that they will not govern us... We have no choice... We must accept and bow down, or revolt, and reform a government... The choice is not between parties, but between parties and democracy... I choose democracy... I trust the people to decide essential issue as I do not trust the corrupt government, and it is because the government always bets on virtue growing out of the worst kind of vice, as no intelligent person would... In other words, our government is guided by ideology rather than practicality..Don't the republicans remind you of the Bourbons??? What some one said of them is ageless: that, they forgot nothing, and learned nothing...This way to the Guillotine, ladies and gentlemen...Fear not... It is only a republican hair cut...Just ask for a little off the top.... Thanks...Sweeney
