This is sort of my question also. I can't understand, with all the technology in our world and all the brilliant minds, why can't someone figure out how to build an engine with a mesh cover or some sort of blocking device that would shield the engine from ANYTHING going into it. Or a protrusion in front of the engine to cast off any foreign object from proceeding into the engine!! I know there must be SOME solution to this. It could save so many lives, couldn't it?
What do you think? Any aeronautic engineers out there reading this?
