Susan, I am a big fan of yours but your of defense Kosinki disappointed me. I know that he did nothing illegal but there are plenty of talented jurist is this country and we don't need one who has a website with women painted like cow. That is just plain stupid. If nothing else it's just bad taste. In years past, he would have resigned and that would have been the end of that. What used to be dishonorable is now OK as long as our lawyer can get us off the hook. I know that I am and old fogie, but self respect demands discipliine and that Judge clearly has neither.

Wrong, Kidd. It was a private website inadvertently made public, at least allegedly. If that is true, it is none of our business what Kozinski's perverse personal tastes are. How well would you stand up to such scrutiny? That is the first question I always want to put to the outraged when it comes to the topic of proper comportment in the sex department. However, I find the same rationale that compels treatment of child pornography as a crime to apply here, in part. I don't give a hoot about a naked woman imitating a cow. She is an adult and can take responsibility for her own behavior. But I do care about forcing animals to participate in a human's sexual activity. That is a crime and should be treated like one. Similarly, trafficking in pornography based on such criminal acts should be punishable as a crime whether it takes place on a private website or not. Somebody ought to ask Kozinski what his judicial wisdom tells him about that.
