Sir;...It is good that God is great, and so forgiving, at least to the living... I want to tell you sir, that I live in the wasteland of Michigan, and that old man in the trailer house is not alone, that many have left, and more will go, and this place will fall apart in decay and rust. The roads that were never patched from last winter, dangerous to drive on will be suicidal by Spring. There is no pretending that capitalism works, but after some eighty eight years of hard sell against socialism, it is hard to find anyone to think that the alternative to failure is a solution... It is really not a solution... Solutions do not come in ideal packages...But the ideal of capitalism, of trying to make the man fit the mold is going to be a painful degrading process, and I expect those inclined toward violence to act out, usually against the wrong targets... We don't need this pain... If we suffer it as a nation it is because we choose it... We could reform this society with the same goals as the last and a new form to reach those goals... We can reset the wealth button so it is all in the hands of the people, so no one is wealthy without merit, and none wealthy while others starve...We could pay off our debt to the Indians, starting with giving them all we find too useless, or expensive to defend... We could have democracy, if we would enforce the equality essential to democracy...We could make Citizen an official title, as it is, the title to all the commonwealth...We only have one excuse for suffering what lies before us, and it is that we fear we must torture ourselves to get the old beast of capital on its feet, so it can trample more of us into the dirt... Not a good idea to me... Not an ideal society to me... I don't care what we call the society we end up with as long as it works, and as long as it puts the goals of our present preamble within our reach... I have given the greater part of my life propping up the failure of capitalism, and at times, literally carrying it on my back in the hopes that if worst came to worse; that it would carry me... It can't carry anyone now but the rich, and only if we provide the legs... To hell with that...Tell Americans to stay home and fight for their country where they live... If they are unwilling to fight for what they have already worked for, they will never be able to count on better... They have voted for change...Now they must demand change, across the board and complete...No piddling change will save us from misery. Only a change of forms will save us... Thanks...Sweeney

Sir;... By the way, your owner of the trailer park reminds me of an Ironworker who took a load of Christmas trees to Florida some twenty five years ago... Christmas eve came, and they were wrapping up, and ready to chuck the trees in a dumpster and run, and this poor woman came and said: I promised my kids a Christmas tree this year, but all I have is three dollars... The Ironworker said: That's Okay lady... I'll sell you one for that... Cool eh? What ever the market will bear, even if it is some mother's last three dollars...Thanks...Sweeney
