Your confession to illegal activities as campaign manager in the context of Obama's Presidential run left my very conservative Republican neighbor fodder for his argument that "All politicians are crooks!" when I tried to encourage him to look at Obama as a fresh face (or as Biden described him, "clean"). Worse; after a second and a third read, I think I have to agree with my neighbor to the extent that it does appear you are saying that all politicians...to win...must accept illegal campaign activities as due course. I'm not as cynical as you are, Mark. At least, not yet.

I saw you on Meet the Press Sunday and, as usual, was impressed. However I noticed that you helped to perpetuate the "Reagan Landslide of 1980" myth. Sure, he won an electoral landslide. But as the Gore/Bush election showed, electoral votes don't reflect the people. Reagan barely won 50% of the vote; or to put it another way, almost 50% of the people voted against him-hardly a landslide. If John Anderson were not running, maybe the electoral landslide would've disappeared too.

Mr. Shields,
I was pleased to see you and the Capitol Gang on Meet the Press, I also watch you on PBS.
I am a supporter of Hillary Clinton. I am convinced she is the most qualified person to lead our country but I am deeply disappointed with the media coverage. I believe she has been treated more harshly than her rivals, particulary Obama. This AM on MSNBC's Morning Joe, they showed the speech Obama gave at the Wisconsin Founders Day event this weekend. In his speech he spoke of "Words Matter, I have a dream----words matter, I hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal, words matter..........". The they showed a speech given by Deval Patrick in October of a previous year, I beleiveduring his campaign for Gov and he said the -EXACT THING IN THE EXACT SAME WORDS.""" What about plagerism???? Will the press and reviewers dismiss this also? I thought you should know because you have generlly been a fair and balanced reporter.
Thanks

I saw you February 17 on Meet The Press. Although you are not alone, your views on so called superdelegates are hard to understand. In a democracy, how can it possibly be acceptable for one person to have voting power equal to several thousand others? After the 2000 "election" it is incredible to think that the Democrats will engineer a backroom deal to choose a nominee who did not win the popular vote. Your statement that the party needed some adults (i.e., superdelegates) is really insulting. I guess you think of the 15 million or so other ordinary Democratic voters as children.
