Had this country and its political class been focused upon that old rugged cross, we wouldn't be in the dire situation that we'are in. corrupted from within -having rejected God and His roadmap, prefering man and his government and science, we now reap what we have sown. we have become people that demand to be lied to and taken care of. People who put their faith in fallable man and false images -waiting forever for the human leader on the white horse to lead us to the earthly paradise. Wrong choices and wrong roads, following hollow leaders, are our doom as a once great nation. Pessimistic? No, we need to move our treasure chests elsewhere -Tony is right on target as we work out our salvation -we need to remember who we are -God's creatures.

Tony,
When reading your commentary in past days I have always had hope that being educated, smart and sensible as you have proven to be is a hope in American press and media with you as an example.
After reading this one I have looked into your eyes...seen your heart and like what I see!

Very timely words. Would that we had done this before the current crisis.

Atta boy, Tony!
That was an excellent piece, bringing back memories from my youth. I think it was Adams who said that our constitution will only work when there's a strong religious foundation. That's a paraphrase, but all one has to do is look around the nation at Christmas and try to find a vestige of the real "reason for the season" and it becomes obvious that we've become a secular nation. Nature abhors a vacuum, so watch what fill the void left when we erased God and the traditions upon which the country was built.
