Cigarette Smuggling

While it's politically popular to impose confiscatory taxes on America's 40 million tobacco smokers, there are a number of consequences one might consider, but let's start out with a quiz. If a carton of cigarettes sells for $160 in New York City, and $35 in North Carolina, what do you predict will happen? If you answered tons of cigarettes will be going up I-95 from North Carolina to New York City, go to the head of the class.

I agree with you Walter; the do-gooders in government go way to far in imposing their will upon people. Now, explain to me why you support the Iraq war again? Was it weapons of mass destruction? (There weren't any, and the Bush administration deliberately fixed the intelligence to suit the policy). Was it connections to Al Queda? (Oh wait, Shrub himself confessed their were no connections to Al Queda.) Or maybe it was to install democracy in Iraq, the way the do-gooder Woodrow Wilson wanted to make the world safe for democracy. (How is that working for you?) Walter, you would engender a lot more of my respect if you would stop being so damn partisan, realize that government orchestrated foolishness is NOT just a domestic problem, and start being a little consistent. Everything the feds do at home, you rightfully complain about. However, it seems that once the government is doing it to people overseas, who wear different style hats than us, it suddenly becomes all right.
