Game Changer
Each decade is a statement in the age long human global conversation. After Forty years in the wilderness we have come full circle. The tall charismatic ghost of John Kennedy, in black face, has gotten the full throated endorsement of the living brother and daughter of our thirty-fifth president, our slaughtered King, JFK.
Latinos may well decide this primary February 5th and today they are solidly behind Hillary Clinton, much as I was before Barack Obama, a virtual unknown, strode out of Illinois like Lincoln some few months ago.
In March 1968, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, six days before he announced his run for the presidency, made a pilgrimage to Delano, California, to help farm labor leader Cesar Chavez break a 25-day fast. Three months later, in the California primary, nine out of 10 Mexican-Americans voted for Kennedy. So great was the affection for the man that Latino grandmothers still refers to Bobby as "el Bobby."
Our time is now. Our America, once given a chance to see and hear the hero that the next generation has thrown up the political pop charts, will reject the past and opt for the future. We are only moments away in the time continuum that will replace the old, shop worn messages that are modern American politics into the face of a transformative, generational figure.
