Sir;... The past is prologue; and that is true, but as you write it, it is boring too... Why not just tell the truth: The real danger of the presidency is what it considers the privilege to keep America in the dark, to keep congress in the dark, and to act as petty potentates for their appointed time, and never reveal the facts.... In what sense is that situation democratic??? Is it because we vote for a personality and not a person???Is it because no matter what they do, we have no recall.... We can be certain that only as a last resort will the Senate vote for impreachment... Why??? No matter how bad the president is, they are as bad or worse... No one will shake the halls of power for fear that some Samson will rise up blindly, and tear their house down.... Mr. Obama is showing no interest in giving up the dictatorial power of the president for a greater democracy... That power has been growing in fair weather and foul since Jackson and Lincoln, and it will not be reduced until the people put the president in his place... If they do so, they will do so in the dark, acting on rumours, and guesses, because the government keeps the facts to itself... We cannot have democracy without having intelligence... If we look around us we can see that this economy and this government have failed us... I am anxious to see how the government will hide that fact from us... They may lead us into war, or keep us from ever knowing the facts of our government, but they cannot warp all of reality to their will... If they could, our troubles would be over. ...-And theirs too... Some day, if the people figure out how they have been abused, there will be no mercy, and no state funerals for our former presidents.... Then you can rewrite history all you want... It will not matter any more... Thanks...Sweeney
