Beware of Mandatory Arbitration in Card Check

by Michael Barone

In his statement explaining his decision to switch from the Republican to the Democratic Party, Sen. Arlen Specter assured his listeners that "my position on Employees Free Choice (card check) will not change." In later statements, Specter was explicit in opposing both major provisions of the bill — the effective abolition of the secret ballot in unionization elections and mandatory federal arbitration — and said he would not vote for cloture.

Sir;... What is the point of labor unions as long as property has so many more rights than labor??? Why not get rid of all labor unions, since, if they have no rights then they are just another parasite feeding on the people... The philosophy of the individual rules us...Certainly it is a false notion.... The more we conceive of ourselves as unique, the more we wear the same fashion and behave in the same manor... We are almost done...All we need to ruin this country, and bring about full change is to associate labor completely with slavery... We need to take the honor out of labor for once and all...Deny to the working man the right to combine to beg for fair wages... Deny his right to combine for any purpose...Deny his right to wages, and show him the shackles and lash...How many societies were destroyed because only slaves labored, and the thought of work was beneath free men, may never be known..We know it wrecked Rome.... Without the Civil War teaching Southern Whites to work, there might never have been any revival in the South... Before the Civil War, with Blacks doing everything of value, and very little of public value getting done, whites would not even lift a finger to improve their own condititon because the honor had been removed from labor... Before that war, any white man with any gumption, universally poor, removed from the South, and moved to the West...There is more honor today in being a thief than in being a working man...The most criminal banker is held in higher regard than the man who honestly mows his grass...It is because we justly, and correctly, conceive of the criminal as free, and know that the man who works is more a slave the more he works... Labor is no way to honor, or self sufficiency...If it were worthy it would be worth a living wage... Instead, such wages are offered as suggest slow suicide for those without the heart to dispatch themselves by the traditional method...We need a sign over every entrance to America saying: Abandon hope all ye who enter here... Forget working your way into something better...Find a mob, and give yourself to pillaging workers while they go to and from, or labor at their pointless jobs... Take all they own...Are they not used to it??? Are they not expecting it??? There are only two kinds of people in this world, and one works and the other lives on the work of others....Labor officials are just such animals, who by law cannot justify their wages with results...The government is another, and the whole financial sector is another...We should expect nothing from the money changers... But why should a labor union even be necessary if the government was contituted with the very goals of every labor union... No one should form a union to do what the government should do, or pay dues for the very good for which they have already been taxed... Either demand that government get off the dime, and do what it was made for, or roll over and die... There is no real middle ground...If we will not be free, and tell government what we will do, we are done, past tense, and buried...Thanks...Sweeney
