Sir;...Forget about the price of change... This country is about to discover the high  price of not changing and it will cover the face of the world, and be a price no one, and no country can afford to pay. Change is as essential to societies as it is for people. When a person needs a change of air, of atmosphere, of diet, of environment, of clothes or bedding sooner or later  the denial of change will affect the health of the person. Things are fine for you. You have money in the bank, and stock in your portfolio. Why should you change only because so many others are struggling? Change brings the best to the top. Shuffling the cards of life and changing the game brings out the best in people and lets the best people win. It does not have to stop there. It should never stop there. Change is our environment, and intelligence is our adaptation to change. Trying to stop change is futile. But it also causes a lot of pain and insecurity to buy little security for a few. Do you feel secure? You should not. No one becomes more secure robbing the security of their neighbors or countrymen. We all need security, and it is why we organize and form governments. If a government established to secure justice, sells justice for wealth it sells security. That is where we are. So peddle your same old has been was been politics. The people need change, and lookout for the one who promises change and does not deliver. This could get ugly, and perhaps must if it will ever get pretty again....Thanks...Sweeney

This is a fact: the only certainty is "change". You know Webster's version, let me give you the Torah/Bible version: Nothing comes to stay, it only comes to pass..."and it came to pass....", etc. When things don't change, they stagnate, wither, putrify, and die. Our economy, the global economy is withering and putrifying. Death or change is next. You've listed possible changes with Obama/Biden, well here's the McCain/Palin scenario: Chances McCain won't serve full term are high. Palin will be President. Consider:McCain's campaign manager, chief strategist, top economic advisor, foreign policy director and fundraising chairman are all lobbyist's and part of the corporate terrorists that have attacked the American economy, and Palin is Christian conservative, so...
If McCain and Palin do get in you'll have a corporate lapdog and Christian Right at the helm. With Palin, forget freedom of religion and separation of Church and State. Whatever rights and religious freedoms you think you now enjoy will be stripped away due to the passage of laws that suit not only their political, but also their religious agenda and ideology. Remember, if religion can't get the people to behave the way "God wants", they get into politics and enact laws to make mankind slaves/sheep to fall in line with whatever popular ideology is running the show. Why do you think a candidates stand on homosexualityand abortion make such big news? When religion and politics mix, we have tyranny and persecution, and candidates voted in that are not qualified but pass the "Christian" test. Sound familiar? Think Iraq, Iran, etc. Maybe you think you know why, but are you sure you know who and what you're supporting?

I just had to comment -

I'm a college student at a liberal arts school in a liberal city. I will also be voting McCain / Palin in November. If anybody asks who I'm voting for, though, I say, "Obama!" - because 99.99% of the time, the asker is wearing a ton of Obama paraphernalia. I'm lousy with debating and I get tired of defending my choice against a crowd of people yelling "CHANGE!" at me. So I guess you might say that I'm a closet McCain supporter.

Anyway, I have a feeling that I may not be alone in this. In an anonymous survey given out in one of my classes, nearly one-third of the students said they would be voting for McCain / Palin in the fall. However, I haven't seen any McCain handbags or McCain-is-my-Homeboy t-shirts around. Choosing McCain / Palin over Obama / Biden - it's certainly not "the cool thing" to do, but I have hopes that a good number of college students will be doing it anyway.
