Ma'am; ...While I respect people of any sort who demand equal rights so long as they are, in fact, equal; I recognize that those trying to make this society work are as reactionary in their way as those who deny the possibility that it will ever work... In the course of this last election I met several people who voted against their self interest solely on the issue of Gay Marriage... The fact is, that giving religions protection under law, and exemption from taxation has made religions a political powerhouse... Will individuals ever enjoy their rights while institutions hold them???No... No one is free to practice any religion in America so long as institutional religions hold power... The churches are the enemy of religious freedom, and of freedom generally; so how can anyone accept the society that supports such an institutional abuse of freedom without being reactionary in their own right???I don't believe gays will ever be free until the impediments of this society are swept aside, and the greatest single impediment, in religion, now enjoys wide spread acceptance.... I think that it is wonderful that church attendance is down... Now that the churches have done so much to prevent government from being a source of justice and relief; now, let us see how well they do at charity... I think they may do well to take care of their own, and that they will, as always, blame the victims of poverty as guilty of immorality... You will find in time that you may approach freedom in this society, but you will never know it, and in fact may provoke a great reaction... If we have a civil war or an actual revolution in this country, it will more than likely begin with the right in a great slaughter of those it considers immoral... They hate you... Words like: dislike, or disagree with, do not express the enmity and the emotion with which they consider your actions and influence... I don't care if you hate violence... Count on it, and arm yourself for protection... My bet is that you are right at the top of some list you don't want to be on... Consider some kind of plan B in case looking for equality wants to blows up in your face... Who knows that the better angels of our nature won't play a duet full of mystic chords for our entertainment... Just don't count on it... Thanks...Sweeney
