This is politically stupid and evil. There's a reason marijuana is illegal. It's extremely bad for you. As anybody who has lived with or known "potheads" can tell you.
Try living here on the ground and see what long term marijuana use does. For starters, its regular and long term use causes long term memory loss, behavioral control problems, and subtle but clear brain damage--which is occasionally irreversable. Secondly, its use by the adolescent or early-20s individual tends to arrest maturation and development, often for years after regular usage ceases. Thirdly, its distribution is carried out by violent thugs who freely bribe and kill law enforcement officers and court officials in source countries to keep the stuff flowing--and legalization would NOT take business away from them but rather make them far richer than they are already.
Put down the metaphorical bhong, Steve. The seventies are over, and the vast majority of those of us who survived them (and thus know first hand what pot use does) want *nothing* to do with legalizing it.
