I always have a problem when someone with little experience is handed a political prize. If we are now in the business of gifting Senate seats — then my support goes to CHELSEA CLINTON to take her mother's place. She has brains, drive, and the proven ability to step into the political world of fund-raising and campaigning.

hopefully someonw will take notice of your column and realize what you are saying is true. Being from WNY we finally thought that one of our dedicated congressmen had a real chance to do some good for WNY. But of course when someone from downstate with a hgh profile name gets mentioned for the job -with little or no experience they become the front runner. As usual its not what you know but who you know and the Kennedys know the right people.

Your reasoning strikes me as faulty, and in the words of Tina Fey " a little bit high-school bitchy". Let's see...Hillary's qualifications when she declared her candidacy for the senate? Lawyer? Check. Political family? Check? Author? Check. New Yorker...not so much. Not at all, ever! Caroline Kennedy has lived in and contributed to New York for what? Forty-plus years? Why are you so threatened by the possible appointment of the niece of a sitting Senator, and the niece of a dead one, when the blatant truth is that Hillary was elected because she was the "wife of"?

Thank you for pointing out the very important fact. I was born after Prs. Kennedy was assassinated and have no special sentiment or admiration for The Kennedys. So, Ms. Kennedy is just a nice bright socialite for me. Surely she is a capable person being an attorney and presiding many charitable organizations. But, being a socialite and carrying the famous family name are not enough qualification to be our senator. We need somebody who understands our daily lives. Not somebody who's spent all her life in a penthouse on 5th Ave. We need somebody who has strong legislative experience so that she or he can really replace Sen. Clinton's work. It shocked me that Ms. Kennedy has a notion that she is entitled to become our senator by just expressing that she is interested in.

Also, I'm sick and tired to see people who were loud during the presidential election to support Obama are getting appointed for the cabinet seats and other political positions. There is no differences between auctioning off the senate seat and appointing the biggest supporters --- people who gathered money or votes for Obama most will win the position. How corrupted is it? Somebody explain to me what's so new about Obama politics.
