A Patriot's Prayer

by Chuck Norris

I genuinely was honored this past week to read in global news reports how our troops in the Middle East recently have expressed their gratitude for my trips there in 2006 and 2007. Particularly humbling were the thoughts from a Fallujah police trainer, who called me "a role model" for the Iraqi security forces that were formerly an al-Qaida stronghold.

Sir, with all due respect, it does not matter how strong our military is or how straght they shoot. If the body is strong and the mind is weak the man will not do well, nor good. I am particularly sick of this country making war on other populations because they do not like a leader the people can do nothing about. Would it have not been better if we did not like Saddam Hussein to empower the people against him? Wasn't there about a hundred better ways we could have conducted the whole affair, even if we insisted upon fighting a population that was never, properly speaking, our enemy? I mean, for example, how many times have you heard those lame brains in government say that if we leave too soon, we will have to go back. Staying put is expensive in lives and material. Going back is what we are good at. We could have went back ten times for the price of staying there once, with very little to show for staying. I read history. I read about war. I think our grand military has made every mistake that history should have taught them to not make. Do they study anything but the Bible at West Point? From my point a view, a first class military education has been wasted on the whole bunch of them. It is true that all organizations rot from the top down. In one sense at least our military is no different from many people.

Excellent reminder for this time of year especially, Chuck. Thanks. "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" John 11:25b, 26
