Dr. Mr. Norris. I would not abuse Mrs. Obama for saying what she said in regard to pride in country. You would have to be blind to not recognize the cause black people have against this country, which is a grievance. Just because the judges of mankind refuse to hear their complaint does not mean their complaints are not valid. So, If Mrs. Obama says she is proud now, it is because America has shown itself to be color blind in regard to Mr. Obama. If it is true, that America can elect a black man with out a grievance against America, it has shown that only this grievance, of being taken from ones past, deprived of liberty, harnassed to a plow, and often worked to death, and knowing every injustice since -is the only thing standing between our friendship and mutual respect. I am as white as the day is long. I have no reason for guilt in regard to black people. But It would surprise me more than offend me to hear any black person say that they were happy with the justice promised them by America. If you knew her history in this land you might find her comments justified.
