One Eye on My Pocket: You hardly ever see people wearing eye patches anymore, although they are still used to treat "lazy eye." Sailors in general, and pirates in particular, wore eye patches, not only to cover up lost eyes, but so that one eye would be "set" above deck and the other "set" for the darkened areas below decks. Famous fictional eye patch wearers include the Hathaway Man, Nick Fury, Bazooka Joe, Snake Plissken and Rooster Cogburn.
