Scandinavian Sounds: Henrik Ibsen is the most famous Norwegian writer and Edvard Grieg is the country's most famous composer. When Grieg adapted Ibsen's "Peer Gynt," he also wrote "In the Hall of the Mountain King," famous for the bit where bassoons and cellos replicate the sound of a tiptoeing Gynt. The piece has been covered by the Who, ELO and Rainbow. It also inspired the theme songs for "Inspector Gadget" and "Sonic the Hedgehog."
