Muscle misuse: Its "plural" look notwithstanding, the word "biceps" is a singular noun, derived from the Latin "bi" (two) and "ceps" (headed). Since dictionaries report word usage rather than decide upon it, the newest dictionaries include "bicep," we're sorry to say. Its entry in the current Random House Unabridged cites references going back about 50 years.
