One thing to do to reduce the stress of the supermarket is to buy into a membership where you get the majority of your items in either bulk, or mailed to you. You'd be amazed how much you can buy online for the same price and then delivered to your door. Not only is this convienient, but then when you DO go to the store, you head for exactly what you need, and do VERY little impulse buying. I've also found a lot of wisdom in going to a butcher rather than the supermarket for my meat needs. I get a better quality of cut for the same price, individual ground chuck in 1 pound packages, easy for daily usage. I also cook large quantities of all types of meat and then slice it thinly for serving sizes, package them in containers and freeze the rest. This way I get CHEAP sandwich or salad meats rather than buying the supermarket individual wrappings at a much higher price!
