To Not Married To a Mind-reader, I am basing my opinion on my own experience. My husband is just not a talker. I came from a family of energetic talkers. I began to try to ''read'' every sigh and grunt my husband made because he seemed to communicate no other way. We will be married 40 years on our next aniversary, so somewhere along the line, I quit worrying about his gutteral noises and concentrated on my own interests and just taking comfort knowing he needed more quiet than I. He just needed my acceptance and by now, I enjoy the quiet as well. To top it off, as I've become less frustrated, he opens up and expresses himself and I listen when he needs it. I truly believe it takes 15-20 years of marriage to BEGIN to break the ice. The most important thing is to accept the other as he is.
