There are any one of several reasons why Jesus was at first unrecognized by those who had known Him, all of them plausible and/or logistical. It could be that that Jesus deliberately didn't want to give others a heart attack from a sense of "shock and awe" ("Peace be unto you"), knowing that His resurrection was over the top and beyond comprehension. It could be that at the time when He met the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, it was at or before dawn and too dark to provide normal visibility. It could be that in fact Jesus did have a "glorified" body in His post-resurrection state that His Father had chosen for Him that could have made Him unrecognizable. Alas, it could be that God did close Jesus' disciples' eyes until such time that He deemed it ready for them to see Him resurrected.
