What this frantic letter is all about is trying to stir up a groundswell of hysterical people who will call their representatives to - do what? Why vote for more money for social services, of course. In his own words "the exact number" of children who die from abuse is unknown. But let's become hysterical and get Congress to vote them more money anyway. I do NOT disagree with having social services to investigate genuine reports, and there has certainly been mismanagement as there is in any government agency. But when do you ever hear of court ordered counseling ending because the counselor says "you're fine, you don't need it anymore." In many cases, counselors just keep stirring up the same old problems which encourages the victim to think like an emotional cripple. After all, if there's nothing bothering them, they won't have to pay for counseling.
