Dear Edith: I have a daughter living in Virginia who is planning to buy a new home. She has recently purchased a new car. Her friends have advised her to include the cost of her new car in her mortgage, and then pay off the car. Their reasoning is that the additional monthly amount added to the house mortgage would be insignificant, while the cancellation of the monthly car payment would allow for additional cash flow.
