I have a question. Are pine needles detrimental to a garden if applied as a mulch? I had heard that pine needles tend to prevent plant growth. For example, pine needles collect under a pine tree and tend to prevent growth of grass and other plants under the pine tree. Is this true? Or does it have more to do with lack of light?
