His mother has her claws in him in every way possible, and it drives me crazy the way she manipulates him. I love him a great deal, but if he doesn't grow up, and fast, I will walk away from everything we've built together. He calls his mother "baby" and "honey," and the few times we three have been togeth ...

RE the husband who can't stop smoking. I found something that worked for me. For smokers, it isn't just the nicotine addiction, it is the whole hand to mouth, fooling with the cigarette thing as well. I found a smokeless "cigarette" online, that looks like a cigarette in a holder. When you puff on it it even lights up at the end, and delivers a little hit of nicotine on a burst of vapor. There is no tobacco and nothing to burn so one can even use it in "smoke free" environments. A card comes with it that you can hand to people who question you about "smoking" indoors. Plus, I am not putting smoke into my own lungs! The device has cut me from nearly two packs a day to about 3 "real" cigarettes a day, and allowed me to be more sociable around those who can't stand smoke.

I was in exactly the same situation except I married the mamas boy, and not only things never get better, they get WORSE. Although my ex-husband was aware that his relationship with his mother is sick he didn't have enough will power to do anything about it, and his mother made sure to make our life living hell in attempt to get rid of the "other woman". My advice to all women in this situation would be - don't waste your life any more hoping this sorry excuse for a man will become normal one day because that will never happen. Unless you want to be the second wife forever, RUN and never look back
