Annie's Mailbox®, June 27

by Kathy Mitchell and Marcy Sugar

Dear Annie: I am in my mid-30s and have a best friend the same age. I have known "Kyle" and his wife for a number of years, and we are involved in many activities together. I also have a younger sister, "Janice," age 23.

Last year, Janice met Kyle when she joined our gym. When a group of us planned to attend a football game, Kyle asked Janice to come along. Over the last few months, Kyle has involved Janice more and more in things my friends and I do together. Somet ...

I have been reading your column for a couple of weeks now and I finally had to say something. Your advise is about as good as the lumps in my cat's litter box! The married pal who is going after the guy's sister is just DEAD WRONG! He should knock his lights out, suggest he go to marriage counseling, and stay away from his sister!

You were wrong when you said that there was nothing the brother could do. Doing nothing is proof that he is WIMP, with no higher standards than the two cheaters. He should have a confrontation with his "friend" and tell him to stay the H*LL away from his sister! He should also tell his sister to back off of his friend. And he should let them BOTH know that if this immoral relationship develops, that they have shown that they have proven they have no regard for HIS feelings - not to mention the feelings of the man's wife. He should tell them that he will walk out of their lives ... and then do it! Who needs friends - or family- who put themselves before the people who love them most? My brother would NEVER accept this behavior from me or his friends - and I admire him for it. Everyone respects a man who is willing to stand up for his standards and values!

Yes, it appears that Kyle has a "thing" for best friend's little sister! And it's most likely reciprocated by sister! She has probably fallen for all of his attention and compliments, making her feel special, even though he's being a snake by carrying on with her in spite of having a wife in the background. If this situation plays out like so many others of its kind, she's in for a huge heartache, the wife is in for a huge heartache, Kyle will come out without a scratch (but with neither woman) and the friendship with 'brother' will be in the toilet. Nobody wins.
