in regard to the letter from the lady whose in-laws don't visit them. her husband says its because they don't like her. that could be the case BUT how come they haven't made a move to see their son. sounds to me like the blame is on the wrong person. i don't know how long they've been married but i suspect something happened she doesn't know about. i too used to take the blame for everything. don't do it to yourself...find out or let it go. you don't need the hassle.

To all alone Here Reading your story was like my own life ,but my in laws live in the same town ,ask us to Christmas dinner but for got to tell us they were exchanging gifts .explain that to a 5 year old .after 10 years I told my husband that enough was enough and told my husband he can go see his family any time he want .but the kids and I had enough and we stayed away .life has been so much nicer for us . the kids are not up set about not seeing there grandparents or the rest of the family .my family is very close and loving to my bunch, its in my husband ball park now on what he dose . I ask my in laws point blank about it and they said nothing . but i do see it is getting to them now after 25 year , they are the ones who are losing out on knowing us . they never tried . so go on with your life and enjoy it trying to understand some people is a waist of time. been there and done that
