This offset law is very unfair to those of us who changed careers without being aware of this ridiculous law. I was counting on my SS to live on in my retirement. My teacher retirement in CA after 18 year of service is $2443/mo and my SS is $160/mo. This is impossible to live on but I have worked all my life and at 67 I continue to work as a substitute. Thousands of CA teachers will not have jobs next year due to lay-offs, they will be forced to take other jobs and pay into SS but when they retire they will lose one or the other retirement that they have paid into.

if your statements were accurate which there not your statement about what they don't get in dropping the offset is that everyone gets that offset shows manipulation of facts. of this was true they wouldn't have needed the offset law.
