A Lot of Sex Is in Your Mind

by Margo Howard

Dear Margo: My husband of a year, "Michael," is everything a partner should be: generous, caring, supportive, intelligent, easygoing and optimistic. My ex-boyfriend, "George," is none of those things. He's controlling, obsessive-compulsive, inflexible and unhappy. Don't get me wrong, George has his good points; otherwise, we wouldn't have dated for four years. But while Michael fills my days with happiness and laughter, George was more the tear-inducing type. For the mother of the little 2 year old whose father is the married man, she should've thought about these scenarios before she decided to have sex with and get pregnant by said married man. What did she think would happen? He would abandon his current family and come make a new one with her? Maybe. But not likely. It just doesn't usually work that way and you'd think women would realize that by now. Especially since she is not a child, she's nearing 30. And does she think that him 'confessing' to his family is going to make the situation at ALL easier??? Not a chance. It will just create more drama and trouble. Does she think they will welcome her and child with open arms? Or just give 'dad' the green light to 'sure, go ahead and spend time with your 'other child' - we don't mind!' If he hasn't given up the 'other' family for her by now (child is TWO YEARS OLD), he's not going to. She needs to wake up and face life and make the best of a bad situation that SHE created (and he, too, but he's not the one asking questions here). I feel sorry for the child who is now in a situation he didn't ask for but will have to live with the consequences of. Hopefully, someday some good man will come along and take him under his wing and give him the stability that he so badly needs and will replace the father that is missing from his day-to-day life.
