Opinion journalism really must be different from other thinking exercises.

Was slavery not a social issue?
How about every war where religious and social views divide the citizenry?

The conscious of an individual and its relationship to government is the basis for every revolution and governmental change for thousands of years. To pretend it's illegal or creepy that religious people are animated about the use of their tax dollars to support what is unconscionable to them is either ignorant or disingenuous on your part.

Our descendants will have a big laugh when the read the "opinion writers" of this time who profess that infanticide is to be funded and sponsored by every person who objected to it and fear for their own salvation. Kind of like the laugh we get recalling fat plantation owners who felt the Union should support their lifestyle of enslavement.
