Let me get this straight....Brent is complaining about fact checking in defense of Rush Limbaugh?!? Rush, whose standard for fact checking is, well, not doing it??!

I have no idea if the referenced statements were made by Rush or not. As a listener of his program, I am confident that they are not out of character for him, having heard him utter equally offensive things, such as his comments about Michael J. Fox, Barney Frank, President Obama, and on and on. The tactic of attributing something outrageous, either by a quote that is not accurate or by asserting what a speaker is thinking while playing an audio clip, is vintage Limbaugh. As an example (one out of hundreds that can be found), when Joe Biden made the clearly awkward statement about Obama being a clean and articulate African American, Rush repeated it with a "finally" prepended to the statement, which artificially made it more inflammatory.

There is no attempt to censor Rush. He can continue his theater of the absurd, pandering to the ignorant, as he has done for years. If other media chooses to play by the same rules he is hardly in a position to complain. His bid to be an NFL owner we equally not censorship, or anything close to it. He can continue to be a dishonest, irrational bloviator. His beahvior has simply limited his career opportunities because people know him and, outside his fan base, find him offensive. It's a matter of that famous 'personal responsibility' that he is such a champion of.

The "main stream, state run media" has a liberal slant. Conservatives have whined about this forever. From my perspective, if the majority of Americans are conservative according to rightwing polls, the righties should have overcome this disadvantage by now. Has not happened and never will. We don't want dishonest, irrational bloviators mixing with us lefties in NFL circles. As for "Common sense tells us that if he made these comments on his show, his advertisers would dump him so quickly, he'd be out of a job by sundown.", the greedy capitalism of the right is ruled by the bottom line of profits and not by any civil decency, much less common sense.
