LW1: My husband and I both have relatives who have gone to Russia on these "buy-a-wife" tours. Both ended badly. My relative was smartly and patiently soaked of everything he had down to the last dime that he could steal or borrow. The wife divorced my relative as soon as she had taken everything he had and was eligible for citizenship without him. My husband's relative got off comparatively easy. She dumped him within weeks of him bringing her here. My relative clearly hasn't learned a thing, because he's obsessed now with getting one from South America and is planning a trip. American middle-aged losers can get the idea in their heads that American women are deficient compared to their fantasy of submissive, beautiful, much younger foreigners. Maybe it works sometimes, but I think even taking the idea of doing this seriously is such a character flaw in a man that he deserves what he gets.
