I think the boys can deal with their father not always being there a lot more easily than dealing with him never being there. She wants permission to be cruel, because it's easier for her. They need their Dad, imperfect as he may be. Interesting she thinks herself a stable and loving parent. I'm skeptical. The younger boy was only 6 months old when her relationship with his addicted Dad ended. She should love her boys enough to let them have whatever their father has to give them.
