Dear Larry: How should I respond to "interested parties" who want to discuss how I am planning to vote in this upcoming presidential election?

I do not appreciate people prying because I am not the type of person who likes to discuss my political views, especially with people who are not close to me. But many of the people I talk to feel they must bring up politics.

I have to disagree with Larry. Voting may be a right for most of our population, but people who don't take the time to learn about the issues and the candidates really shouldn't be pulling any levers on Election Day. Frankly I don't appreciate such persons canceling out MY informed vote, one I cast after I have actually doing my homework. That said, I do understand the writer's disgust with both candidates and with the fact that others pry his political views out of them. It's an odd coincidence because this very evening, my co-workers asked me point blank which party I belonged to, right after one of them spent ten minutes ranting about some political figure (which I didn't care to hear). I only answered the question in the hopes that these people might then stop ranting during work hours, knowing that there is at least one person in the room who doesn't agree with them.
