Dear Larry: I don't know of a single dentist who would examine a child without the permission of the child's parents. Think "lawsuit". I also don't know of a school that would permit a dentist to come in and examine a child without parental permission. This couple has two options: (1) Use the car and furniture as bribes -- "Let me take care of the child's teeth and I will buy you what you want" or (2) Select a different family that puts the children first and drop the other one. Eventually, when the child is in severe pain, the school will require the parents to take her to the dentist, or risk a report to DFCS.
