Patty Saunier

Patty Gibbons Saunier learned grammar from the Sisters of Charity in her neighborhood Catholic grade school.

"They made sure that we left school knowing grammar, or we didn't leave at all," she said.

Saunier majored in English at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and worked for several Ohio newspapers as a reporter, restaurant reviewer and featured columnist.

She is the author of three textbooks and founder of The Write Stuff, a children's classroom newspaper that teaches the fundamentals of grammar and writing. Saunier has been nominated for awards from the International Reading Association and the Association of Educational Publishers.

She lives in Canton, Ohio, with her husband Denny and daughters, Kate, Colleen and Meg. Gary Rittenour is the illustrator for Grammar Matters.
