I Think She Could Corrupt Him

Share Comment

DR. WALLACE: Michael and I ended our relationship three months ago because we both wanted our freedom. Presently, I am not dating anyone, but Michael is dating a girl who has a very shady reputation. My cousin has taken her out several times and said that she has loose morals and is considered to be a sleazy individual. Michael is a very honorable guy who has a high moral standard. He doesn't smoke, take drugs or swear. He even attends church every Sunday.

This couple is the original male-female odd couple. Even my friends are confused about why these two would be attracted to each other. I happen to think that Michael isn't aware of the excess baggage this girl carries. I consider Michael to be a friend, even though our split was final, and I don't want to see him hurt emotionally by a very insincere female. Let's just say that Michael is naive and isn't aware that the girl he is going with is conniving and deceitful. I think she could corrupt him in a very short time.

Should I contact Michael as any good friend would do, and tell him that this girl is no good for him? I think that I should because he really is a sweet guy who doesn't need to get involved with a loser. Please hurry with your answer. The longer she is with him, the deeper she will sink her fangs into him. - Nameless, Anaheim, Calif.

NAMELESS: I get the strange feeling that you don't care much for this girl.

Michael is a big boy, and if he is unhappy with the relationship he will find out soon enough. Forget about whom Michael is dating and start concentrating on your own social life.

ANOREXIC SUFFERERS COULD DIE

DR. WALLACE: I need your professional advice. I'm doing a paper on the eating disorder, anorexia nervosa (self-starvation). In my research I found that 95 percent of those who are anorexic are females between the ages of 16 and 24, and only 3 percent of males of all ages are anorexic. This is a very significant difference. Is there something in the physical makeup of females that causes them to outnumber males by a very large margin? I also found that about 5 percent of all sufferers of anorexia starve themselves to death. - Amelia, Atlanta, Ga.

AMELIA: The great number of professionals who work with anorexics in trying to overcome this serious eating disorder say that social pressure to be slim and trim is the main reason for self-starvation and is primarily reported by young females. The next reason is undue pressure to succeed placed on young adults by parents — this affects both females and males equally. When you finish your paper, I would appreciate the opportunity to review your findings.
