What Was Tiger Thinking?

Share Comment

What was Tiger thinking? Readers respond:

Melanie: When my husband and I were first married, I told him I would stay and work through anything except for three things: 1) If he hit me, 2) If he cheated on me and 3) If he were involved in anything that would put our future children at risk. Elin should take her money and run like hell. But if she knew about it and tolerated it until the media found out, then she's just as bad as Tiger for playing the wounded party.

John: The feeling of entitlement is a common trait among the rich, powerful and famous. Tiger needs to ask himself if Elin alone can satisfy his appetites for the rest of his life. I wouldn't bet on it.

Rob: Let me start by saying that I've been an avid golfer for the past 24 years. I've been star struck and have always marveled at the ability Tiger Woods has displayed, both on and off the golf course. I've gone so far as to defend his professionalism and his dedication, when quite frankly some of my peers were getting bored by his constant winning.

Well, hallelujah! Tiger has given everyone the opportunity to do what they've always wanted to do — throw darts and say, "See, I told ya!"

Jack: One of Tiger's old high school sweethearts has come forward and talked about how Tiger had such a rough childhood because of his Father's infidelity. Apparently, his father was quite the womanizer. If this bothered you so much, Tiger, how could you do the same to your children, not to mention your wife?

Maybe success at your level is hard to cope with, and maybe everyone at your level is "doing" it, but that doesn't justify it.

Tiger has gone from being an iconic example to children and adults around the world to just another loser. Maybe when he grows up, he'll realize that all the money and trophies in the world cannot bring happiness. The only real happiness comes from family and friends and the great times shared together, especially at the holidays.

I hope Tiger enjoyed his Christmas.

Brigette: I believe he has a sexual addiction. With addictive behavior, you take risks that jeopardize your health, family, career, etc., just to get the gratification that the addiction gives you. His acting out is an indication that there's an underlying problem with his character that he needs to address.

Most sexual addicts were abused in some way in their childhood. He needs to seek counseling with a professional who specializes in this area. Then he may be able to rebound in his marriage and career. Unfortunately for his family, they've had to air their private issues in public, but this is a problem that affects more people, both male and female, than we realize.

Crane: There will be no divorce, and Woods will come back bigger than ever. Money is all that matters!

Harper: Let's see, lots of sex, lots of beautiful women, lots of money, lots of praise for being the best. What's the down side? He has to give his wife a few million. He'll be back playing golf, winning and making money. I'd be shocked if he hadn't shacked up with more than one girl since this all broke. Trade places with Tiger? In a second. Instant gratification.

The women involved with Tiger have portrayed themselves as victims and are making fortunes kissing-and-telling. What's wrong with this picture? Send your thoughts, along with your questions and problems to
