ETHNICALLY SPEAKING
Dear Larry: I believe that as long as ethnic and cultural groups continue to hyphenate their heritage with American, we will continue to live in a segregated world.
A lot has been done since the '50s to eradicate the separation among groups. However,…Read more.

Dear Larry: I am shocked that Rush Limbaugh has been rejected in his attempt to become an owner of a National Football League team. So-called black leaders and a few others told lies about Rush, and the NFL rejected him just because there was …Read more.

Ethnically Speaking, January 31Dear Larry: I was greatly impressed with your recent column, especially the part regarding the abortion rate of African-American children. I, too, wonder why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, both men who profit from hate, never have anything to say about this black genocide. I called Al Sharpton about a month ago and asked why he, other pastors and other people with voices in our communities do not have anything to say about the disproportionate rate of abortions being performed in the African-American community. I mentioned how abortions are harming blacks. I also told him about Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. Margaret Sanger was a eugenicist. A eugenicist is a person who believes in selective breeding and that the human race can be improved by only the right kind of people having children. We, as a black people, are dying at a much higher rate than other races. If we were spotted owls or timber wolves, to kill us would be against the law. But because we are not lower creatures, it is not a crime to destroy an unborn fetus. Your article was like a breath of fresh air. Mr. Meeks, it was good to see a black man, other than myself, speak out against this genocide. — Sam Dear Sam: I read and reread your letter and could not find the response from Al Sharpton. What did he say? Thank you for your kind letter, but not everyone shares your enthusiasm. Read on for other responses. From Robert: How many children have you adopted? I doubt you would take in an unwanted child. From A.L.: As a woman, I believe we should determine what grows inside our bodies. You are a man, and you have no right to utter a word. From Jessica: Our new president is black, and he is in favor of abortion. The people elected him, and we should follow his policies. We should be loyal citizens and follow his example and opinions because he is smart and knows what is best for America. People like you should be silenced. Dear Jessica: I have been writing this column for almost 20 years, and during that time, I have received tens of thousands of letters. Of all the letters I ever have received, yours is by far the most chilling. I find it almost unbelievable that a person born in this country ever would allow himself or herself to follow a leader blindly, without ever questioning the leader's motives and policies. What is worse is the fact that you want others to do the same. This kind of thinking is what allowed leaders around the world to go astray. They always could count on sycophants to follow them, regardless of their positions. I am astounded that Adolf Hitler could continue to lead and the people still followed his directions, when they all, almost universally, knew he was wrong and mad. I pray that as Americans, we always will question our leaders and hold them accountable for their decisions. To find out more about Larry G.
